An Early Peek At The Stanley Cup Playoffs (Part Two)

CALIFORNIA -- As this season winds down, the Gray Leopard Cove will review the 2011-12 NHL season.

We'll tell you which teams will be moving on and which teams will be going fishing as Charles Barkley would state.

The Stanley Cup Playoffs will begin April 11 on the TSN , NBC Sports Network, or your local Comcast and Verizon cable networks.

Today, we'll take a look at the Western Conference.

It will be a very interesting ending to this season in the West with five teams via for last three spots in the playoffs.

A CME Church Statement on The Trayvon Martin Tragedy

DALLAS -- The Commission on Social Justice and Human Concerns of the Christian Methodist Episcopal (CME) Church stands with all religious and civic organizations in the demand for justice in the unprovoked slaying of 17-year-old African American, Trayvon Martin by 28-year-old neighborhood watch volunteer, George Zimmerman.

They have issued the following statement:

On behalf of the College of Bishops and all CMEs, we extend our deepest condolences to Tracey Martin (father), Sybrina Fulton (mother), and the entire family.

The most disappointing team in this conference would be the Washington Capitals. Many hockey experts picked to be the 2012 Stanley Cup Champions.

Buzz Williams Should Move On

MILWAUKEE -- For the last two years, Marquette men’s basketball coach Buzz Williams has been able to spurn offers from other Division 1 schools to be their next coach following his successes in the NCAA Tournament.

This time, he might take the next offer out there, and here’s why.

Williams has been dogged by the off the court actions of his players the last two years.

In 2010, Vander Blue was ticketed for disorderly conduct.  He punched a man at a restaurant who said something that Blue didn’t like.

VUU Alumni Larry Doby to Be Honored on Postage Stamp

VIRGINIA -- Virginia Union University alumni Larry Doby, who is a member of the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame, will be featured on a new postage stamp by the United States Postage Service.

The Doby Stamp, which features the Hall of Famer in his Cleveland Indians uniform, will become available in July..

A Marlin Mess: Big Business, Government, Political Shenanigans and MLB

NEW YORK -- When we think of Miami, Florida, it immediately brings to mind sunshine. Yet, even sun seekers might be surprised that it has taken federal Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) subpoenas to shed any type of daylight upon Major League Baseball’s (MLB) Miami Marlins and their financing deal for their soon to open brand new stadium, on April 4, 2012, and presently called Marlins Park.

It is perhaps the smoke-and-mirrors approach to keep ardent Miami Marlins fans as well as fans of MLB distracted from learning more of or even suspect such a federal investigation is taking place.

Chisox to honor Dick Allen and his 1972 teammates

CHICAGO – The Chicago White Sox will honor former White Sox first baseman and 1972 American League Most Valuable Player Dick Allen at U.S. Cellular Field prior to the game on Sunday, June 24.

The seven-time All-Star and White Sox fan favorite is scheduled to throw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to the game vs. Milwaukee (1:05 p.m. CST), with other members of the 1972 White Sox team and legendary former Sox general manager Roland Hemond in attendance.

During the June 24 game, and all 2012 Sunday home games, the White Sox will wear red pinstriped throwback uniforms and red caps to honor the 1972 team.

The Truth About Florida's "Stand Your Ground" Law

FLORIDA -- Since the death of teenager, Trayvon Martin there has been a whirlwind of coverage about the Seminole County's police department's failure to arrest his killer, 28 year old George Zimmerman.

What appears to be a simple case of an overzealous crime watch volunteer's unprovoked and unwarranted shooting, has been muddied by the possibility of an immunity called "Stand Your Ground".

As many legal analyst have pointed out, in a typical case in which you are confronted with a dangerous situation (outside of your home) the law would require that you flee in order to avoid the confrontation.

Williams Says Brewers Won't Win Division

MILWAUKEE -- So Mitch “Wild Thing” Williams thinks he knows a thing or two about the Milwaukee Brewers.

I think he should be careful before he opens his mouth.

And I read his comments on what he thought about the Crew.

I don’t have the MLB Network, but has he been paying attention to what happened last year?

We were a couple of pitching and fielding mistakes away from reaching the World Series.

Williams said that the Brewers will not repeat as NL Central Division champions this year. His favorite team to take it all is the Cincinnati Reds.
